Oct. 29 (Bloomberg) -- A suicide bomber riding a bicycle
blew himself up at a police headquarters in the Iraqi city of
Baquba, killing 28 people.
Twenty others were injured in the attack today in the
capital of Diyala province, about 37 miles (60 kilometers)
northeast of Baghdad, state television said. Most of those killed
were police officers. A woman and a child also died, Agence
France-Presse reported.
Ten Sunni and Shiite Muslim tribal sheikhs were seized on
Oct. 27 as they returned to Diyala from a meeting in Baghdad to
discuss combating al-Qaeda.
Diyala province has been among the most violent areas of
Iraq, as U.S. and Iraqi forces have struggled to fight insurgents
and al-Qaeda.
